Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity is seeking to put God’s love into action. They bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope. This one-day-a-year opportunity allows volunteers to work with a partner family in building a new home. No experience, tools, or construction skills are necessary. Must be at least 16 years old.

Family Promise
Family Promise helps local families achieve secure housing and independence. St. John’s is a host church on a rotating basis to help care for the Family Promise families by providing meals, overnight care, and companionship. Training is provided by Family Promise.

SOS Food Bank

There are two ways to serve the Spirit of Sharing (SOS) ministry:
1. St. John’s volunteers staff the SOS Food Bank on the first Wednesday and fifth Friday of each month from 1-4 p.m. Volunteers pack food and distribute it to less fortunate families in our community.

2. St. John’s collects non-perishable food to be donated to the SOS Food Bank. These donations help the SOS Food Bank fulfill the demand of those in need.


Texas Ramp Project

This ministry builds ramps to ADA guidelines for those with limited mobility and financial need. Tools are provided and no experience is needed.

Community Arts Program of New Braunfels, Inc.
The Community Arts Program (CAP) of New Braunfels meets on Tuesday afternoons (September – May) at
St. John’s. The program offers at-risk children a quality after-school program that includes lessons in violin, keyboard, and guitar. In addition to music lessons, children receive tutoring to support school work and creative expression through art. The CAP mission is to empower at-risk elementary- age students to develop their musical potential, be persistent in the pursuit of their education, and strengthen their communities. Tutors are needed to support student homework and educational assignments.

Communities in Schools

There are a number of ways to become involved with Communities in Schools (CIS), Comal & Guadalupe Counties
1. Mentoring an individual Student
2. Pen Pal to an individual Student,
3. Donating School Supplies to Students in Need.

RSVP America Reads

The Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) involves community volunteers in a one-on-one tutoring program to help children become independent readers by the end of third grade. Each week during the school year volunteers spend 30 minutes tutoring a student. No prior teaching experience is needed and training is provided.

Blue and Green Santa Helpers

St. John’s participates in a holiday toy and gift card drive to help support the NB Police Department and Comal County Sheriff’s Office. The programs distribute gifts and gift cards to local families in need during the Christmas season.

Camp Outreach Volunteer

We promote service to others while enjoying fellowship through this annual summer outreach program. Our program is designed for children to create projects that are distributed to our community and for youth to serve in leadership roles. Camp Outreach will take place June 3 – 6 , 2024 and the fair on Sunday, June 9, 2024. Planning and meetings will take place before June 3 with set-up on Sunday, June 2.

Easter Egg Hunt Crew

All are invited to join in a fun-filled day of egg hunting, games, and food. Many volunteers are needed to make the egg hunt a success. The Easter Egg Hunt will take place at Cypress Bend Park on Saturday, March 30, 2024.

Shrove Tuesday Crew

We invite our church family, friends, and neighbors to join us for an evening of games, food, and fun. Shrove Tuesday will take place on February 13, 2024 with meetings and preparation work before.

Trunk or Treat Crew

Join the St. John’s family and our neighbors at the Trunk or Treat event. The evening includes food, costumes, and decorated “trunks” for children to safely trick or treat! Trunk or Treat will take place on Saturday, October 28 from 6 – 8 p.m. with meetings and preparation before.

Worship in the Park Crew

On the Sunday following Easter, worship is held at Landa Park on the Dance Slab. Volunteers are needed to help with worship, set up, church picnic, and clean up.
